Young Fundraisers receive Diana Award.
Two of our young fundraisers have been awarded a Diana Award
To celebrate Princess Diana’s Birthday this 20th Anniversary year, The Diana Award releases their Roll of Honour for 2017. The names of over 750 outstanding young people, from across the UK and the world, are announced today. These exceptional young people embody Princess Diana’s qualities of kindness, compassion, and service.
The Diana Award was set up in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, and her belief that young people have the power to change the world for the better. It is committed to fostering, inspiring and developing positive change in the lives of young people through practical social action. Today The Diana Award has the support of both her sons The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
All the award winners – who come from every region in the UK and USA, Canada, UAE, India, Belize, Australia, Greece, Indonesia, Croatia, Liberia, Jersey, and New Zealand – have had a monumental impact on society and lives of those in their communities. Many of them only know Princess Diana as a historical figure, but they carry the honor of the Diana Award with pride and admiration for Diane in whose memory it was set up.

AMY CURTIS UPS AND DOWNS SOUTHWEST
Amy aged 9 has been a strong advocate for raising awareness for people with Down Syndrome and breaking down social barriers on what they can achieve. Inspired by her sister April, who was born with Down Syndrome, Amy has taken it upon herself to ensure that other families receive the vital support that her family had received after the birth of April. Joining her sister Lauryn to fundraise over £2000 to support Ups and Downs Southwest, Amy has shown tremendous commitment to the cause at such a young age with a promising future ahead
LAURYN CURTIS UPS AND DOWNS SOUTHWEST
Lauryn aged 13, following the birth of her sister April, who was born with Down Syndrome, has dedicated the past 3 years to raising awareness and fundraising over £2000 for the cause. Through her incredible work, she has enabled Ups and Downs Southwest to run a pre-school littlies group for children with Down Syndrome, giving families a place where they can come and share the highs and lows of having a child with Down Syndrome. Alongside her sister Amy, her mission is to show the world what people with Down Syndrome can and are achieving incredible things.
The young fundraisers were presented with their awards at a ceremony on the 29th June 2017 at The Edge, Bath. We are extremely proud of Amy and Lauryn and thank them both for all the hard work and dedication they have put into fundraising for us.
