UV Glow and Groove Dance Fitness

We had an absolutely thrilling time at our UV dance and fitness session at Ups and Downs Southwest’s Weston-super-Mare Youth Club! 

The atmosphere was electric, filled with vibrant energy and excitement. From the dazzling display of glowing sensory balls flying through the air to the exhilaration of shooting UV hoops, our session was a sensory wonderland! Glowing balloons floated enticingly on parachutes, while the light-up limbo stick challenged everyone to show off their moves. It truly was an inclusive and fun experience that catered to all abilities!

To add to the excitement, we wrapped up the session by dancing to “Reaching for the Stars” by S Club 7, where the young people joyfully danced and signed along using Makaton. It was a sight to behold, with smiles all around as we all sang our hearts out! 

The young people took charge during the “Follow the Leader” game, coming up with creative twists and new ideas for games that kept everyone engaged. Who would have thought that instead of simply going under the limbo stick, we could jump over it and strike a pose afterward, dancing to “Grease Lightning”? The laughter and camaraderie were infectious!

We saw a remarkable transformation in the group, as those who were previously more reserved blossomed in this supportive environment. They felt empowered to share their thoughts and values, bridging connections and building friendships as they contributed their ideas. It was truly heartwarming to witness such confident expressions and interactions among the young participants.

Facilitated by the dedicated youth worker Gemma, the session became a platform for the young people to shine. They took ownership of their group, leading with enthusiasm and creativity, and the result was an abundance of glowing smiles and fulfilled hearts.
