The Binns Family
Dedicated Family Continues Tradition of Raising Funds for Ups and Downs Southwest with Glastonbury Festival Stall.
The Binns family have done it again! Since 2014, Zoe, one of our dedicated parents, has set up a stall at Glastonbury Festival every year to raise awareness about Down Syndrome and highlight the work of Ups and Downs Southwest. Joined by her son Jake, who has Down Syndrome, and supported by friends (special mention to Rebecca Clowes) and family, they create an inviting space where festival-goers can enjoy ‘crafty’ activities while learning about our incredible Down Syndrome community.
Not only do they raise awareness, but they also collect donations specifically for Ups and Downs Southwest from supporters far and wide.
Zoe describes the experience as a vibrant and colourful week in a truly diverse temporary city. Glastonbury is known for its acceptance, diversity, and inclusion, mixed with bone-shaking music—an experience that never disappoints, despite the challenging toilets.
Jake worked on the stall every day, charming and interacting with visitors from doctors to DJs. Zoe says their primary aim is for people to leave with a heightened awareness and an aspirational attitude toward people with Down Syndrome.
We are incredibly grateful to Zoe and Jake for their amazing efforts and for being such wonderful ambassadors for the Down Syndrome community and this year, they raised over £600—amazing work!
