#DiscoverTogether
Inspiration Explorer

We’re thrilled to introduce a special opportunity for your child this October as part of Down Syndrome Awareness Month: The October Experience Exchange: #DiscoverTogether
This new campaign is all about creating unforgettable moments for our young people. We’re connecting children and young adults with community members who are excited to share their passions, hobbies, or skills. Whether it’s a photography session, a visit to a car workshop, or a fun day of baking, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
What’s in it for your child?
- Unique Experiences: Your child can explore new activities, discover hidden talents, and have loads of fun!
- Supportive Environment: You or your child’s carer will accompany every experience, ensuring it’s a safe and comfortable day.
- Group Opportunities: Some activities will involve small groups of young people so your child can enjoy these experiences with friends.
How to Get Involved:
- Register Interest: If your child would like to participate, simply let us know. We’ll work to match them with an experience that suits their interests and age.
- Celebrate Together: After October, we’ll share stories and highlights from the experiences so everyone can enjoy the memories made.
Interested?
We hope you and your child will join us in making this October a month of discovery and joy.

Some fantastic opportunities are currently available, and our Inspiration Guides will be adding more throughout September.
How The October Experience Exchange Will Work
We are excited to introduce The October Experience Exchange: #DiscoverTogether, a campaign designed to create meaningful experiences for your child, known as an Inspiration Explorer, by connecting them with community members—our Inspiration Guides—who are eager to share their passions, skills, or hobbies.
Building a List of Opportunities
- We will reach out to our network and the wider community to compile a list of exciting experiences that our Inspiration Guides are ready to offer. These could range from art workshops and sports activities to hands-on experiences in various professions.
- Each Inspiration Guide will be carefully selected and briefed to ensure that it provides a safe, engaging, and enriching experience for your child.
- To ensure the best possible match, we’ll ask you to share important details about your child, including their interests, age, location preferences, and any specific needs they may have related to Down Syndrome.
- This will include information about any allergies, communication preferences, or other additional needs that should be considered to ensure the experience is a success and enjoyable for everyone involved.
Gathering Information from Parents
Matching and Coordination
- Based on the information you provide, we will carefully match your child with an appropriate Inspiration Guide and experience that aligns with their interests and needs.
- Once a match is made, we will coordinate all the logistics, including setting a suitable date, time, and location for the experience.
- The safety of your child is our top priority. Before any experience takes place, we will conduct a thorough risk assessment to identify and mitigate any potential hazards.
- We will ensure that all Inspiration Guides are fully briefed on any specific requirements or considerations for your child, creating a safe and supportive environment.
Safety and Risk Assessment
Parental Involvement
- A parent or carer must attend the experience with their child to ensure their comfort and support. It is essential that you do not leave your child unattended during the activity. Your presence will also help to enhance the experience and provide additional reassurance.
- We would love you to capture photos and/or videos of your child during their experience. With your permission, we would be thrilled to document the event. This would allow us to celebrate and share the joy with our wider community. For some of the experience, we will be contracting the services of Somerset Film who will be creating a short documentary of our awareness raising mission.
- After the event, we will invite you to write a short piece about your child’s experience. This could be a few sentences about what they enjoyed, what they learned, or how the day went overall. These stories will help inspire others and highlight the positive impact of the campaign.
Capturing and Sharing the Experience
Assurance and Careful Planning
Please be assured that we have thought through every aspect of this campaign to ensure it is safe, enjoyable, and enriching for your child. We are committed to creating a positive and memorable experience for each Inspiration Explorer, with careful consideration of their unique needs and interests.
Our team will be on hand throughout the process to support you and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
We’re excited to see how The October Experience Exchange: #DiscoverTogether will open new doors for your child and create lasting memories.
Thank you for your trust and participation in this special campaign.
