COVID-19
We are Doing our Bit in Somerset!
With thanks to the Somerset Community Foundation and their COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund.
Within weeks of the national lockdown in March, the Somerset Community Fund pulled out all the stops to ensure funding became available to support those grassroots level organisations across Somerset to do their bit in helping the Somerset community survive and thrive during these testing times.
Thanks to two funding awards supported by Wessex Water and the latest, the National Emergencies Trust, we have been able to offer an intensive service to all our registered families and Somerset schools where there is a child who has Down Syndrome.
Our families have really appreciated being contacted individually over the last few months; as well as continuing to support with issues and concerns in relation to Down Syndrome, we have been on hand to discuss the other multiple mounting challenges which have arisen as a result of the pandemic.
Ensuring we are very much on hand for our Somerset schools, we hope we have made a difference in supporting schools to manage the new challenges as they welcome their SEN pupils back into what we know, are very testing circumstances.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Somerset Community Foundation, for their quick response in making this fund available. We feel we have been able to make a significant difference with this funding – a fence at the top of the cliff rather than the emergency services at the bottom!
