Significant Funding News
We are delighted to share our most recent funding news.
We have been successful in our application to the Hinkley Point Community Fund and have been awarded significant two-year funding to develop our family support and schools work across Sedgemoor, Taunton Deane and Minehead.
The overall aim of the project is to reduce stress levels through dedicated family support work and school liaison hours offering one-to-one support, training packages and increased partnership working with schools.
For families within the designated, funded areas, as well as being able to access our normal core services, we are able to support more intensively the management of day to day stress levels and have more hours available to support with educational matters.
For schools, whilst there will still be a charge for some services, this fund does allow us to provide a dedicated school liaison worker for all schools within the catchment areas who can offer training and advice as well as pupil observations and follow up advise and recommendations.
We will be communicating directly with all families and schools within the defined areas shortly to advise them of the full package of support they can access through this project; we are very pleased to be supported by this fund and look forward to working alongside all those involved in making a real difference to the lives of children and young people who have Down Syndrome.
